Summer is coming....
Road trips...
Vacations....
Beaches....
Crime???
You're damn straight, crime.
Remember, practicing simple, effective and practical self defense doesn't stop when you take a break from your "real life" to go on vacation.
It satays (or should stay) with you wherever you go. Proper training ingrains behavior patterns designed to protect you deep into your subconscious mind.
This past week I went to Kingston, New York for a friend's wedding. At the Holiday Inn there was a list of "Traveler Safety Tips" on my nightstand, printed and distributed in all of the rooms for the guests. "What a neat idea," I thought.
everyone could stand to give these a read, especially as summer drwas near and with it the influx of vacations, so I'm sharing them with you here:
Holiday Inn Iraveler Safety Tips:
1. Don't answer the door in a hotel or motel room without verifying who it is. If it is a person claiming to be an employee, call the front desk and ask if someone from their staff is supposed to have access to your room and for what purpose.
2. When returning to your hotel or motel late in the evening, use the main entrance of the hotel. Be observant and look around before entering parking lots.
3. Close the door securely whenever you are in your room and use all of the locking devices provided.
4. Don't needlessly display guest room keys in public or carelessly leave them on restaurant tables, at the swimming pool, or other places they can be easily stolen.
5. Do not draw attention to yourself by displaying large amounts of cash or expensive jewelry.
6. Don't invite strangers to your room.
7. Place all valuables in the hotel or motel's safe deposit box.
8. Do not leave valuables in your vehicle.
9. Check to see that any sliding glass doors or windows or any connecting room doors are locked.
10. If you see any suspicious action please report your observations to the management.
Good stuff....and rereshing to see such proactive action being taken on the part of the management. Kudos to you!
